Server does not 'fully' connect to the network (it appears connected, but no data can … – Ask Ubuntu
I’m trying to troubleshoot my uncooperating 12.04 ubuntu server. (noob warning here)
- Server has a dhcp assigned route of 192.168.1.20 from the router.
- Server appears in the router ‘attached devices list’ under that IP as well.
Here’s the problem:
- Pinging from server results in ‘unknown host’ and ‘destination host unreachable’ respectively.
- I can’t connect directly from the laptop to the server either (SSH, browser).
Any ideas what I can do here? What’s confusing me here is that seems to be a connection, but it won’t transmit anything.
Server has worked previously, although that was over a WIFI network due to space constraints and with another router. I think it could be either the router or the server but I suspect the latter is at fault.
Update: Even pinging the server dosen’t work:
--- 192.168.1.20 ping statistics --- 8 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss
